What are Travel Allowances, and / or Accommodation Coverage?

See shift details, as some practices offer Travel Allowances, and / or Accommodation Coverage

Some healthcare practices choose to offer additional support for travel when posting a shift. This may include either a travel allowance or accommodation coverage, or both.

 Here’s how it works:

  • Travel Allowance ($/km or flat rate)
If a shift includes a travel allowance, you’ll see a corresponding icon in the shift list.

    • A $/km allowance is calculated as a round trip from your home address to the healthcare practice’s location.

    • A flat-rate allowance is a fixed amount set by the practice.

  • Accommodation Coverage
If a healthcare practice is covering accommodations (e.g., hotel or lodging), the details will be clearly disclosed in the comments section of the shift posting.

  • Important limitations

    • Travel allowances and/or accommodation coverage cannot be requested after you’ve already been accepted for a shift.

    • If you do not see a travel or accommodation icon, the practice is generally less likely to accommodate these requests.

  • Rural and remote locations
Some rural or remote practices may be open to discussing travel or accommodation support, even if it’s not listed upfront.

If you have questions about whether travel allowances or accommodation coverage may be available for a remote location, please contact your Network Admin before applying for the shift.
